Leather conservation

LEATHER IS A PRECIOUS NATURAL PRODUCT

Leather properties:

  • good permeability of air and steam
  • ability to absorb steam from wet atmosphere and then emissing it (leather purify itself)
  • small conductance of heat (insulator)

Natural leather has an animal derivation so it is not homogeneous. If on the grain of a leather there are some abrasions or signs, please don't treat them as a defect just beacuse they are a typical proof of an authentical leather. Leather usually has got scars, cuts or scratches on it and even after a correction in a tannery some signs would be visible and they CAN'T be the reason for a complaint.

Clothing leathers are very susceptible for all abrasions. Types of leather like nubuk, krek, split, ram, calf are quite beautiful and soft but also easy to tear them even with a weak catch on something. All those properties give a proof that leather is an extraordinary product and deserves for a special treatment.

Tanneries and producers of leather goods are not responsible for durability, colour and resistance of leather against sunbeams and rain. Old fashioned leather, krek, ram leather or obverse sheepskins always will be wiped! Only stuff selected in adjustment regard will fulfill client expectation and will prove high qaulity.
